Learn how to make Chinese restaurant style lo mein right at home! This requires only a few ingredients and you can customize it using whatever veggies you wish. And you don’t need to limit it to just veggies, you can add whatever meat you want as well (using beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, etc).

What you’ll need:
8 oz. (1/2 pound) pasta or lo mein noodles
cabbage, celery, carrot, onion, ginger and/or vegetables of your choice (snow peas, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, broccoli, green onion/scallion, napa cabbage, bok choy, etc)
about 1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
1 recipe of sauce

For the sauce:
4 tsp lite (reduced sodium) soy sauce
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp oyster sauce
1 Tbsp white wine (or rice wine or cooking wine)
1/2 tsp mushroom flavored dark soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil

This is my take on a recipe originally posted by The Art of Cooking here on youtube. Check out his channel and awesome Chinese restaurant recipes here:

This is chow mein, not lo mein, lol. And why no garlic? Always sautรฉ your aromatics in oil first. Why so much sugar in sauce? Why you donโ€™t have something like a wok?

Chinese food should have no substitutes. Do it right or don't do it at all

MonkGoneGamer says:

Lol wdf ? I aint even chinese but for that little lo mein you dont even need to to add oil after soaking it with cold water. And you dont need to add sugar. And also you forgot you need high heat bro.
