NO SHEPHERDS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO

This is a real hearty, wholesome dish that will satisfy most carnivores. It is a vegan dish so if you like cheese or are cooking for a group of carnivores then putting some grated cheese on top of the mashed potato before baking in the oven will make the dish richer!

Sorry we don’t have a written recipe for this! We’re currently working on an updated and improved version which will feature in our new book (to be launched in Spring 2018)… So please bear with us until then!

Shepards pie is such a brilliant dish to do vegetarian or vegan or whatever dietary conditions you may be working with because it is such a mailable and adaptable theme dish. It’s like a pizza or a taco, there are a million and a half ways to do it and none of them are wrong and any theme can turn out delicious. Totally agree that some char on garlic is a actually a really brilliant flavor. Some people say you should never burn your garlic. I totally disagree.

TIP: bake a full head of garlic in olive oil in oven (350F for 40 minutes) squeeze garlic juiciness into mashed white flesh sweet potatoes. Add this wicked garlic potatoe mash over-top of your lentil filling in oven dish. Takes this shepards pie to another amazing level of heaven. Enjoy!
