This vegan mongolian beef uses soy curls to mimic the unctuous crisp and chewy texture of the original dish but has the same sticky sweet and savoury sauce!

♡ What does your logo mean? Why isn’t your logo using the Vietnamese flag? – Actually I use the South Vietnam flag because it represents Viet Kieu (Vietnamese immigrants after the fall of Saigon), my parents were both boat refugees before immigrating to Canada. My logo combines two parts of my identity: Maple leaf because I’m Canadian, and the South Vietnam flag because I’m Vietnamese 🙂

What brand soy curls do you buy?

Magnulus76 says:

TVP can be very tasty. One of my favorite jerky brands uses soy curls. TVP also has a long shelf life.

Donna Spencer says:

I tried the sauce to use on another dish and it was very good. It was just way too spicy for my liking. I will cut back on the chili flakes next time and I will try doing this recipe but I will try Air frying instead of deep frying.

Dante Velasquez says:

JESUS that looks good. I love TVP.

Thank you!! I spend a lot of money eating at every vegan Vietnamese restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I'd like to make it myself.

Would I get the same crunchyness if i bake them instead of frying?

Cheyenne Sutton says:

I am going to make this dish!

Enkhjin Bayartsogt says:

I enjoy your show so much, Lisa! I am 73 years old and I have been vegan for over 20 years. I would never predicted that vegan foods would undergo such a dramatic revolution. I have never enjoyed food so much! All of your recipes taste fantastic! I am so grateful and enjoy your breezy, light hearted sensibility. I look forward to all of your recipes and I have tried most of them. I wish you continued success. I also like your vegan Vietnamese cuisine.

Barbara J Sengelaub says:

Hi Lisa! Fabulous video. You're the best!!

Wondering, as I'm doing the WFPBNO thing, can the curls be done in the air fryer, or does "deep" frying them make them better (taste, texture etc)? And can I use something like Milpas Soya Carne Protein as a substitute for the Curls. The reviews said the differences were that the Milpas was defatted and the pieces were smaller.

TIA! Barb

Rachael Gosdin says:

Meghan Alexander says:

Your personality rocks. I just bought soy curls on sale at the grocery store. I’m so excited to try this!
